This is the first time we have used the new hop, Idaho 7. The hop translates especially well in hazy IPA’s, with aromas of pineapple, peach and mango. We married Idaho 7 with our favourite hazy hop Mosaic to make a delicious juicy hazy IPA. As the supplier says “this is the perfect hop for your summertime brews”.
Idaho 7 was developed by Jackson Hop Farm in Wilder, Idaho. When I think of Idaho, one of the few US states that I haven’t visited, I think of potatoes. Idaho is the largest grower of potatoes in the US.
Coming up with new beer names can sometimes take time, but sometimes there is just that obvious connection. Idaho/Potatoes/Wilder? The B52’s released a song in 1980 called “Private Idaho”, and there is a line in the song that says “Like A Wild Potato”. No potatoes were used in the brewing of this beer, but a side of lightly salted hot chips might be a perfect side snack while drinking this beer.
