A collaboration with local friends, restaurateurs and now distillers Rachel and Hamish Nugent, Thursday is the latest release in the Mayday Hills range. A dark beer base was designed to match the change of season.
The spent botanical from Remedy Gin in Bright were supplied by Hamish after distillation on a Thursday. The botanical blend includes local natives, including Mountain pepper leaf and berries, lemon myrtle and eucalyptus citriodora
This full flavored dark ale is dominated on the nose by the fruity, Brett produced esters in combination with rich berry and spice of the added Botanical. Dried fruit characters reminiscent of a Belgian Dubbel or Quad lead to a dry, warming finish and lingering Black Forrest flavours
The juniper berry base is what seems to provide the most cut through, and lingers well after you’ve finished drinking. The esters from the Brett C create an overall character similar to a Belgian brown ale, but with a longer fruity kick from the juniper.
